The effort is being sponsored by ViSalus, a health and fitness company. For every person who participates, ViSalus will donate 30 meals to needy children, through its charity, Project 10 Kids, said Danny Deking, co-owner of the fitness center with Ryan Darby. "We're going for a Guiness World Record for the largest simultaneous group workout," Deking said. "It's worldwide at 2,000 different locations." Everyone who signed in during that hour on Saturday got to work out for free and each signature on a sign-in sheet meant 30 meals for a child struggling with malnourishment, Deking said. Their participation is an opportunity not only to raise awareness about proper nutrition for children, exercise and fitness, Deking said, but to draw exercise attention to the adult obesity challenges in the nation. Danny Deking's father, Chet Deking, 57, of Sugar Grove, also participated because he wanted to be part of the effort to get nourishing food to hungry children.
